In November, Ayers admitted he had forged documents to man it appear he had been a patient at the cancer hospital City of Hope. He apologized and said he faked the documents because he did not want to disclose his real medical records. The revelation came after his cancer diagnosis had been called into question bygd some of Gunvalson's RHOC costars, with the diagnosis becoming a major storyline on the show.

Ayers maintains he was diagnosed with scen 3 non-Hodgkin lymphoma in 2013.

In his statement to PEOPLE, Ayers denies speculation that Gunvalson encouraged him to forge the cancer documents or sought to use his illness as a storyline on RHOC. Ayers says when he received a cancer diagnosis in 2013, he attempted to keep it a secret.

He told Gunvalson but asked her not to share the news publicly.

"However, Vicki felt compelled to share a private email later that night with Tamra Judge and Lauri Peterson along with a ord to Shannon Beador asking for all of their support during this time rather than conflict. inom was not okay with that at all when inom funnen out about it, however the upplysning about my diagnosis was out," says Ayers.

Ayers says that when årstid 10 of RHOC started filming, "the antics of Vicki's friends" put "enormous pressure on our relationship," causing him to stop sharing details of his medical treatments with his then-girlfriend because he did not want her castmates to be privy to the upplysning. "First of all inom would like to thank Brooks for once and for all speaking out on this, and for reiterating what inom have said numerous times," Gunvalson tells PEOPLE in an exclusive statement. "Over the gods year, inom have been bullied, belittled and humiliated bygd viewers, the media and my so-called 'friends'.

Once and for all, inom would like to address several issues concerning my life that keep circulating in the media that inom would like to förklara and get out.

inom completely understand that people may not believe what inom am saying to be true, yet it will not keep me from telling my side of the story along with my rationale as to why inom did what inom did as it relates to my health and my private life.
